4th Annual
Larry E. Blackburn
Memorial
Police Collectibles Show

Louisville, Kentucky
August 10-11, 2007
The Fourth Annual Larry E. Blackburn Police Collectibles Show (formerly known as the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorabilia Show) was be held in Louisville, Kentucky on August 10-11, 2007.

The Show was named after collector Larry E. Blackburn, who passed away in 2004 after attending the first show.  Larry was a personal friend of mine who was well-liked and respected throughout the hobby.  His jovial attitude always lit up the room and brought a smile to the faces of those around him. When he first met you, you were his friend and he treated you like he had known you for years.  He truly enjoyed attending shows, and made every show he attended more enjoyable for others.  Larry was a great example of what this hobby is all about, and shortly after his death I decided to rename my show in his honor.  God Bless Him!!!
The show was once again held at the Holiday Inn - Airport South in suburban Louisville.  This is the same venue as the 2005 and 2006 show.  This was the fourth annual show, and 114 tables were available.  All the tables were sold, and there were some collectors who were left without tables and had to share space with their friends.

This show was a great success because of the number of well-known, prominent collectors in attendance.

Confirmed table holders in attendance for the 2006 show were as follows,in no particular order:

Charlie Redrup, Doug Runyon, Wayne Alexander, Bill Burks, Jim Clark, Paul Martines, Mark Pyne, Larry Cordes, Leroy Robertson, John Cook, David Calhoun, Chris Calhoun, Dennis Daniels, Art Reifke, JJ Mead, Pat Olvey, David Martin, Ryder Lusk, Andrew Nelson, Nancy Nelson, Andy Lindsay, Bill Fokes, Jim McMillian, David Sprinkle, Steve Petro, Bruce Petro, Louisville FBIRA, Jim Shattuck, Doug Sarubbi, Jim Signorelli, Colin Cummings, David Urso, Bill Swank, Gary Teragawa, Keith Bushey, Don Magruder, Vic Elliott, Jim Hall, Stan Oda, David Honor, Mario Maipid, David Hume, Willie Herald, Bob Murray, Jake Schwalb, Rob Jackson, Clarence Gibson, Alan Levy, Steven Hayden, Kevin Sosna, Michael Fox, Max Bellard, David Fox, Mike Constable, Scott Boren, Jim Burton, Wayne Vanscoy, Margie Haworth, Dennis Wright, Bob Dryer, Jim Lindsay, Leonard Hanham, Phil Lind, Bill King, John Scholten, Paul Schroeger, John Brothers, Ken Lucas, Richard Rufo, Steve Curry, and Buford White.

There were at least 50 other collectors who walked in.  Collectors were in attendance from 26 states and Canada,

As with years past, there was a raffle held this year, which included a couple of grand prizes.  Raffle Winners included Wilma McMillian, Bruce Petro, Mike Kocher, Randy Adams, Steve Curry, Leonard Hanham, Jim Lindsay, Mike Fox, David Hume, Jim Burton, Mark Pyne, Tod Ruse, Wayne Alexander, Bob Dryer, and Bob Murray.  The two main winners were Bill Fokes, who won a free table to the 2008 National Show, and Jim Hall, who won a free table and two nights hotel stay at the 2008 National Show.  Many thanks to all the other collectors who donated items for the raffle.

Best Patch Display was awarded to David and Chris Calhoun for their display of forensic-realted patches.  Best Badge Display went to Don Magruder for his reserve badge display.  Best of Show went to Jim Shattuck for his display of military police memorabilia.  Collectors attended from 26 states and Canada.

As always, the anti-reproduction policy was in effect, which again made for a comfortable, laid-back trading environment.  As I have said dozens of times before, this show is all about the collector; and trading, buying and selling is always rampant and hectic.  Of course, it didn't hurt that the collectors had a little extra cash in their pockets they saved from not having to pay admission, since there is no admission fee at this show.

The show awards were also presented at the end of the show.  This year's winners, as voted by table holders, were Jim Shattuck for Best of Show, Don Magruder for Best Badge Display and David and Chris Calhoun for Best Patch Display.

The 2008 National Show will be held here in Louisville next July, and will take the place of this show (at least for one year).  After the show awards were handed out, I began accepting table reservations for the 2008 National Show, with 59 tables sold on the first day they were available.
